– As news broke on Saturday morning that renowned Santa Fe art collective Meow Wolf had opened a WeFunder investment crowdfunding campaign to offer shares to the general public, word began to spread on media outlets from Vancouver to Houston and from New York and Washington D.C to San Diego. By just after noon on Monday, investors had snapped up the opportunity in record time—the fastest known regulation equity investment crowdfund since SEC regulations allowing them were enacted as part of the JOBS Act in 201

“Meow Wolf has shattered the regulation investment crowdfunding record by raising more than $1,000,000 in just over 48 hours,” said Dylan Enright, Director of Fundraising for WeFunder. “This is faster than any company before.”

By Sunday afternoon, the maximum legally allowed number of general investors—what is termed unaccredited investors—had been reached, leaving room only for accredited investors who rounded out the $1,070,000 funding goal shortly by midday Monday. Accredited investors may still invest through Monday, July 24.

“Meow Wolf is a collective and we were committed to democratize this investment opportunity,” said CEO Vince Kadlubek. “We’re enormously humbled and motivated by the faith and support displayed by our guests, employees, friends and digital neighbors this weekend.”

Funding from the effort will help Meow Wolf to build a full-time creative studio headquartered in Santa Fe. “We’re actively preparing to expand into multiple major markets and to evolve into one of the leading creative brands in the world,” Kadlubek continued. “We’ll have more major announcements in early fall.”

Meow Wolf opened their first permanent installation, House of Eternal Return, in March of 2016 with support from Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. Since then, over one half million visitors have poured through the doors and showered praise on the uniquely immersive new form of storytelling, art and themed entertainment. Recently, The House of Eternal Return won a prestigious THEA Award, a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor and The Most Instagrammed Place In New Mexico from Instagram amidst scores of other accolades.
