LOVE encompasses a variety of strong and positive emotional and mental states, ranging from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal affection and to the simplest pleasure.
LIGHT: the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible; understanding of a problem or mystery; enlightenment; illuminate; ignite.
AWAKENING: an act of waking from sleep; coming into existence or awareness.
These three components to a positive spiritual journey will be displayed by local artist Shontez Morris in her conscious art showcase. She draws inspiration from herself; learning how to love and believe in herself more deeply than ever before, being her own positive light and energy in a society that’s dominated by negativity as well as realizing her own potential and purpose. Her works also simulate a representation of herself as a woman of African descent, giving a voice to those who are afraid to be heard as well as being seen in a time when it’s absolutely NECESSARY to stand out and make it known just how precious we deem our own existence. Her visions help others see deeper within themselves just as she has done for herself during their creation. Her mission is create awareness of the unseen, unheard and often misunderstood.
The “Love, Light and Awakening” art showcase is comprised of two collections of works. Sexpressions” is a pop-up gallery showcase that conveys female spiritual sensuality and strength and debuted on October 2, 2015 at Skylight Nightclub in Santa Fe, NM. Two weeks later, that was followed by “Sexpressions: Creepy, Sexy, Cool” on October 30, 2015 at Skylight. “Sexpressions: Alluring Oddities” occurred on October 31, 2016, also at Skylight. Taz’s pieces showcased at Skylight continuously from October 2nd, 2015 until December 6th, 2017 when Skylight closed. “Project Mystiq” is a collection derived from Sexpressions that shares depictions of the female in a spiritual goddess element and extraterrestrial/fantasy scapes. “Project Mystiq” debuted at Skylight on October 31, 2017 until December 6th, 2017.
The collection has also shown at Shadeh Nightclub and Lounge at Buffalo Thunder, 20 Buffalo Thunder Road, Santa Fe, NM on March 23rd, 2018 where it is still showcasing indefinitely. Jambo Imports, located at 2010 Cerrillos Road has also been showcasing one of her creations indefinitely since June 8th, 2018.
